A high-class performance due to its excellent products: this is Cernaz in Grožnjan, a small but charming village in the Istrian inland. The farm is run by Rino Černac, who founded it in 1997. There are 2 hectares of specialized olive grove with 500 trees, which produced 30 quintals of olives in the last harvest, equal to a yield of 4 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil.
We recommend the excellent Extra Virgin selection Monocultivar Obitelj Cernaz - Istarska Bjelica , which is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with light green hues. Its aroma is powerful and ample, with rich fragrant hints of basil, mint and sage, enriched by spicy notes of black pepper. Its taste is rotund and complex, with a vegetal flavour of artichoke, celery, asparagus and an almond finish. Bitterness is powerful and pungency is well expressed.
It would be ideal on cep mushroom starters, bruschette with tomatoes, tuna carpaccio, octopus salads, lentil purées, first courses with sausages, bluefish au gratin, griddled red meat or game, medium mature cheese.
