O.P.G. Franco Basiaco in Buje has proposed a very interesting range of products. Founded in 1996 by Franco Basiaco, the farm has a surface of 5 hectares with 1,400 trees of both autochthonous and imported varieties.
In the last harvest 220 quintals of olives were produced, equal to 34 hectolitres of extra virgin olive oil. There are three good Extra Virgin selections Gocce D'Oro: Capsula Verde, Trasparente and the Monocultivar Pendolino, which is extraordinary and has been chosen by our panel. It is a beautiful intense limpid golden yellow colour with green hues. Its aroma is definite and complex, rich in elegant vegetal notes of artichoke, thistle and wild chicory, together with aromatic hints of almond and black pepper. Its taste is fine and strong, endowed with an aromatic flavour of mint, rosemary and sage. Bitterness is powerful and pungency is distinct.
It would be ideal on tuna starters, bruschette with tomatoes, roast cep mushrooms, griddled radicchio, bean soups, first courses with meat sauce, griddled swordfish, stewed poultry or pork, pasta filata mature cheese.
