Itrana

Origin

Lazio (Italy).

Agro biological properties

Vigorous, with dense, expansive foliage, and hanging fruit-bearing branches. Leaves are dark green, medium in size, with an elliptical-tapered form. Olives are rounded, medium to big and asymmetrical, slowly turning a dark wine-red and finally black in March. Suitable for oil production or preserved in brine as green or black olives. Nice separation of pulp from pit.

Fruit bearing

Abundant and regular; extremely tardy (December-March).

Fertilization

Anemophile (wind carried). Recommended fertilizers: Pendolino, Maurino, Leccino.

Resistance to adversities

Resistant to lower temperatures; sometimes susceptible to olive fly (bactrocea oleae).

Quality of the oil

Good for combined use, with a moderate yield. The oil is reminiscent of mature olive and fresh cut grass.
