Agrolaguna

  • Flos Olei
  • Excellent

Another really good result for Agrolaguna, currently one of the the biggest oil producers in Croatia and also a leader producer of wine and cheese. Its origins date back to 1953 in the district of Poreč, a popular tourist resort not far from Trieste. Today there are 220 hectares of olive surface with 67,000 trees. In the last oil harvest 9,000 quintals of olives were produced, with a yield of about 1,310 hectolitres of oil. There are two excellent Monocultivar Extra Virgin selections Ol Istria: Ascolana and Istarska Bjelica, chosen by the panel. It is an intense limpid golden yellow colour with light green hues. Its aroma is definite and ample, rich in vegetal notes of artichoke and chicory, together with fragrant hints of mint and rosemary. Its taste is elegant and complex, with a flavour of lettuce, white pepper and almond. Bitterness and pungency are present and harmonic. It would be ideal on farro appetizers, steamed beans, tomato salads, baked potatoes, chanterelle mushroom purée, pasta with asparagus, stewed shrimps, grilled cuttlefish, roast rabbit, grilled poultry, goat cheese.
